The Skinny on Kitty …
It all began with one belt…
As a young girl, I grew up, bonding with my grandmother over various, adorable, crafting and baking activities. The quintessential 1950′s homemaker-type, Grandmother Katherine was as savvy and sassy, as she was sweet and classy, an empowering role model for many young bombshells, such as myself. It was from her that I learned needlepointing and creativity, talents that were polished by my inventive and independent mother.
Over the years we collaborated on many crafting, baking, painting and sewing endeavors, until one college summer, when I had the idea to create a custom needlepoint belt. Unsatisfied with the needlepoint canvas options available to me in stores, I instead designed and painted a canvas tailored specifically to the personality and experiences of it’s owner from the composition of the designs to the color scheme this belt canvas was more special and unique than anything I could have picked up from a catalogue.
I happened to be traveling through Europe while working on the belt, and was overwhelmed by the attention and popularity this little project generated from a hugely vast age group, of both women, and men. Almost immediately, I began receiving requests from my college aged friends my younger brothers’ grade school friends as well as, my parents friends to make belts and canvases for them and their loved ones. From there, the explosion of business inspired me to create a company so that I could more efficiently communicate with the other sewing bombshells of the world.
I genuinely hope that we can help needlepointing explode onto the proverbial scene, as an activity for bombshells of all ages….
